ITD shares coronavirus information
to enhance safety, dispel myths

There is a lot of information today in the media about the coronavirus, and unfortunately, a lot of that information is misleading or just downright false, fueling public fears of the worst.

We do need to be prepared, but we don’t need to panic.

The following resource is helpful to evaluate the safety of your work areas. I would encourage every section to look at their contingency plan to determine key functions, computer access and telecommuting options. ITD Senior Leadership is also looking into these issues.

The Reader's Digest version is that we have a low exposure risk. There are some recommended actions to protect yourselves:

- Basic personal hygiene practices and social distancing can help protect employees at work.
- Explore options for working from home.
- Consider leave policies, policies for pay, transportation issues, and day-care concerns.
- Make sure you know where supplies for hand hygiene are located.
- Monitor public-health communications about pandemic flu recommendations.
- More information can be found at www.pandemicflu.gov.

And of course, please feel free to contact me with any questions at 7-8414.
