D4 welcomes Brumfield as new Innovation Steward

Brent Brumfield, aka Map Guy, is known as the GIS specialist in District 4. He’s a familiar face to many in the region and was previously highlighted for his work with the Wishes for Warriors program. Recently, Brumfield decided to take on yet another new challenge in the department, adding the title of Innovation Steward to his name.

Earlier this year, Brumfield heard that D4 was in need of a new Innovation Steward. Right away, he was interested in the role. Once Brumfield made that interest known, it didn’t take long for the district to seize the opportunity to have him at the helm.

“I had submitted a few innovations myself, so I was familiar with the portal and the process,” said Brumfield. “The previous steward, DJ Price, made submitting an idea easy to understand and did a great job of ensuring the purpose was clearly stated when using the portal.”

The positive experience of Brumfield’s past propelled him to take the reins and lead the innovation program throughout the district. He knows that ITD has a strong innovative culture and is eager to encourage employees to share their innovations on a larger scale.

“I am looking forward to getting to know district personnel on a more intimate level," said Brumfield. "I’m eager to see what my colleagues do and, more importantly, how they do it. I’m certain we will have many great innovations to highlight and share throughout the coming year.”
