CJ Kendrick, a Motor Vehicle Investigator, is the DMV’s new Innovation Steward. CJ replaces Savannah Hill, who stepped away after receiving a promotion to become the Driver Records Unit TRS2.

The DMV Innovation Steward assists with the submission of ideas into the innovation tool, and often helps guide the idea into implementation.

DMV employees submitted 74 innovations in the last fiscal year, 25 more than any other ITD division.

“As a Motor Vehicle Investigator, I have implemented multiple innovations and improvements that have helped modernize the MVI team while providing cost savings to the department,” Kendrick said.

“Working the process has given me an intimate understanding of the pain points associated with change. I have also gained experience connecting with intradepartmental stakeholders to ensure innovations would not negatively impact other teams.”

"There were several outstanding applicants that made the selection difficult," DMV Administrator Alberto Gonzalez said.

“First, I want to thank everyone who applied. I appreciate and note those employees who want to expand their skills and further support the mission of the DMV,” Gonzalez said. “I look forward to working with CJ to promote innovation and use his connections with the MVIs and Port employees to grow the program.”
