Note from ITD
Chief Operations Officer Dan McElhinney

Thank you ITD maintenance team members. During my first few months here at ITD, it is clear to me that our employees are dedicated to providing amazing public service and excellent quality in all we do. Your commitment as maintenance teams serving Idaho during this pandemic has been incredible. You are providing essential services in support of our communities, safer highways for families, and helping Idaho to keep moving during this difficult time, while also implementing COVID safety practices into your daily work as a first priority.

We appreciate how you stay prepared for emergency response incidents, balance daily workloads for changing conditions, prepare for successful winter operations, demonstrate unlimited teamwork, and represent ITD with diligence during these tough times. Thank you for your public service.

Our recent annual statewide safety awareness events locally and online covered many topics, with an emphasis on job-site safety meetings and maintenance/construction work zone safety. We plan additional work zone reviews with the Idaho State Police and the Associated General Contractors of Idaho this fall.

I will be attending numerous winter preparation meetings with our District Engineers at sheds statewide this fall to hear your suggestions. I have also initiated an all-sheds conference call for maintenance leaders to join us monthly for information sharing and to stay informed on how things are going in order to help solve issues.

We will keep you posted with ITD-in-action photos and regular communication through the Transporter as well. On behalf of all of us, thank you ITD maintenance team members for all you do every day!

Dan
