Division of Highways realignment announced
Chief Operations Officer Jim Carpenter announced today a reorganization of the Division of Highways to improve its operations. The changes will take effect in mid-November. The Division of Highways will be divided into three divisions to reflect its commitment to all modes of travel and concentrate sections in areas with similar objectives.

Legislature
ITD schedules legislative outreach series
Director Brian Ness and other ITD executives will discuss transportation and related topics with legislators in November and December as a prelude to the 2014 Legislative session. The annual legislative outreach meetings give ITD representatives a chance to showcase the department's accomplishments of the past year and its service to the citizens of Idaho.

DoRolCo Halloween costume contest draws 25 entries
The spirits of Halloween compelled 25 brave people to dress-up, have some fun and participate in DoRolCo' s Halloween costume contest. Prizes were awarded to the three best costumes. The winners were Helen Moore, Treven Farrow and Marvin White. Photographs of all the participants are available on the DoRolCo SharePoint site.

AASHTO accolades
Encore (10-25-13): ITD might need larger trophy case after winning 4 AASHTO awards
ITD received more national awards than any other state Sunday at the annual meeting of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) in Denver. The department earned three coveted AASHTO Presidents Awards in administration, aviation and the environment.

Encore (10-25-13): Wildlife/vehicle conflicts lead to lower nighttime speed limit
A new nighttime speed-limit restriction on Idaho 75 north of Hailey took effect this week, designed to minimize conflicts between wildlife and vehicles. The goal to keep wildlife alive originated with a group of Hailey third graders last year.

Encore (10-25-13): Home away from home?
Litter comes in strange forms, even an outdoor living room. A recent discovery by an Adopt-A-Highway group working near Idaho 21 resembled a backyard living area, complete with a reasonably solid couch. The only thing missing was a barbecue and ice chest.

Whitewater Park Blvd.
Encore (10-25-13): New route opens to Headquarters
A construction project that changes the way many ITD employees reach Headquarters welcomed motorists for the first time Thursday. Whitewater Park Boulevard officially opened after a morning ribbon-cutting ceremony at Idaho River Sports parking lot. The five-lane road (two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane) creates a new route from Fairview Avenue to State Street.
