Avoid the problems, never buy a vehicle without a title
A fantastic deal on a car or truck advertised online, in a classified ad or parked on a street may not be so great if the seller doesn't have a motor vehicle title in his name to assign to you. In fact, purchasing or selling a vehicle without a proper title can get you in trouble, advises Barry Takeuchi, title program specialist with Idaho Transportation Department's Division of Motor Vehicles.

Repair of important Boise commuter route completed ahead of schedule
Good news for the scores of drivers who travel the western end of the Treasure Valley: Crews completed replacement of an irrigation pipe under the road at the U.S. 20 and Can-Ada Road intersection early Thursday, a full day ahead on schedule. Special Crew Foreman Travis Dodd and his team helped D-3 workers finish the job in just two days with help from Rob Medley, on loan from the Electrical Crew.

POE inspectors assist injured Great Horned Owl
When CJ Williams and Dan Kelley returned to a Roving Port of Entry site on Idaho 78 near Bruneau to inspect commercial vehicles in late February, they noticed something different. A Great Horned Owl that they had come to know and had established a year-round residence in a group of trees nearby was noticeably absent.

The board also elected its vice chairman, heard about Human Resources activities and learned about Highway Safety efforts to eliminate impaired driving in Idaho during the Feb. 19 business meeting.

Encore (2-28-14) Motorist stranded in Florida airport gets help from Idaho DMV
ITD's commitment to customer service has gone transcontinental. A recent communication to the Division of Motor Vehicles carried a message of heartfelt thanks from a north-Idaho motorist stranded in a Florida airport with an expired driver's license. Assisting the stranded motorist were Naomi Rawls, Kimberly Moyer and Deana Post.

Encore (2-28-14) Surplus ovens in District 1 go high tech at NIC in second life
When District 1's Materials Section determined last fall that a pair of large aggregate ovens needed repair beyond what was practical -- the cost to calibrate them was much too high -- Dan Boston (D-1 driller) immediately thought of his father's work with North Idaho College's Aerospace Composite Technology program.

Encore (2-28-14) Davis creates new logo for Lower Payette Heritage Byway
The Lower Payette Heritage Byway has a new logo thanks to ITD Graphic Artist Pauline Davis. The byway is located on Idaho 52, between Horseshoe Bend and Payette. The Scenic Byway Committee recently adopted her design for the logo based on byway committee pictures and ideas. Davis has developed five other byway logos including Fort Henry, Sacajawea, Lost Gold, Hells Canyon and Peaks to Craters.
