Another award for Linder to Ballantyne Design-Build
The reconstruction of Idaho 44 from Linder Road to Ballantyne Lane, ITD¹s first design-build project, received top honors in the Intermountain Division of the ENR (formerly Engineering News Record) Mountain States 2014 competition. Central Paving was the contractor and Horrocks was the designer for the project, completed in October 2013.

David Petersdorf named Maintenance Person of the Year
An Idaho Transportation Department District 5 employee has been named the 2013 “Maintenance Person of the Year.” Transportation Technician Principal David Petersdorf of the D5 Striping Crew, was recognized for optimizing technology that has saved the department thousands of dollars annually in maintenance costs while striping and painting Idaho roadways.

Encore: (8-29-2014) Bush sends kudos to Drivers Services
One of the reported advantages of social media is it immediacy. As this story shows, however, that¹s not always the case. In mid-May, a message on the ITD Facebook page from Greg Bush said, "You guys are totally awesome! I have never received such professional, courteous and caring service from anywhere! Thank you for your assistance." More information was requested, but a response from Bush wasn't sent back until this week.

Amid vendors hawking plenty of fried fair food and sales representatives touting their latest products, the Idaho Transportation Department once again returned to the Western Idaho Fair, offering up valuable information about vehicle and driver services, highway safety and about any other road-related topic.

Encore: (8-29-2014) Board tours District 3 for August meeting
The Aug. 20-21 board tour started in Boise and ended in Stanley. A stop along the Banks-to-Lowman Highway allowed the board to view a slope-scaling project underway and the installation of permanent rockfall-hazard mitigation measures. The project to address the rockfall problem includes work on five separate slopes.

Encore: (8-29-2014) ITD board appoints Maureen Gresham to Public Transportation Advisory Council
The appointment was made during a transportation board business meeting held Aug. 21 in Stanley. Each ITD district is represented and she joins four current members. There is currently a vacancy in the north-central district (Lewiston region). PTAC's mission is to foster public transportation for all Idahoans across the statewide transportation system by working to increase local and intercity services.

Culverts on Idaho 21 north of Idaho City and on Idaho 25 near Eden were overwhelmed in mid-August by water, mud and other debris in the aftermath of significant rains.
