Department properties, a funding request and leasing will lead board agenda
A report on state-owned dwellings, funding for a parking lot in Pierce and lease of transportation department property for oil and natural gas exploration will be discussed during the Idaho Transportation Board’s monthly business meeting. The meeting will be Wednesday, Jan. 20, in the Headquarters’ auditorium.

ITD remains nation's only transportation agency to earn StormReady status - District 6 most recent with designation
Treacherous winter driving has already arrived in eastern Idaho, and Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) maintenance crews are constantly preparing for the next major snow event. This forward thinking saves lives and property, and helped eastern Idaho crews earn the coveted National Weather Service (NWS) StormReady designation Jan. 7.

Inkom Port’s assistance with quad axle earns nod from Pacific Steel
Assistance from three ITD employees with the Inkom Port of Entry with inspection of a new 53-foot quad axle flatbed trailer in early December prompted Pacific Steel to send a letter of appreciation to the department a week later.

Department History
From the ITD Vault: 50 Years Ago - North Idaho’s east-west interstate network
Idaho's portion of National Interstate 90 will stretch across the northern panhandle of the state from Washington to Montana. This route provides a four-lane divided freeway, which matches the capacity and volume of modern-day traffic. Although the route extends from coast to coast, development of the 74-mile portion located in Idaho is considered one of the most difficult engineering and construction assignments in the national program.

ITD unveiled a new, annual campaign Jan. 7 to help drivers stay safe during the winter months. The "Winter Safety Campaign" offers information via Facebook, Twitter and press releases that helps drivers safely arrive at their destinations.

Encore (01-08-15): Two Idaho high schools score big in national seat belt challenge
When challenged to increase seat belt use, teenagers from across the U.S. set out to improve their odds of surviving a traffic crash. Two Idaho high schools came away with top honors and cash prizes for their efforts to improve seat belt use in their schools, scoring wins in two of three competition categories.
