MacKenzie fast-tracks project plan, plows roads in spare time
In mid-December, the southeastern region of Idaho received record snowfall, particularly in the Pocatello and American Falls area, where the biggest December snowfall in decades marred area roads. Into the fray jumped Scott MacKenzie, a D5 employee in the Materials Lab, who volunteered to get behind the wheel of a snowplow in order to help them meet the challenge.

Cherry from Incident Response earns appreciation from motorist
Incident Response driver Jim Cherry, from District 3, has earned the appreciation of countless motorists for assisting them on the Treasure Valley freeway for the last 14 years. The most recent nod came in late December 2015 from a citizen who called the Director’s office just to say thank you for the assistance Cherry gave her the week prior when her car got a flat tire on the freeway.

FHWA notices clear FAST Act highway funds for states in fiscal 2016

Encore (01-15-16): ITD remains nation's only StormReady transportation agency - District 6 now with designation
Treacherous winter driving has already arrived in eastern Idaho, and Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) maintenance crews are constantly preparing for the next major snow event. This forward thinking saves lives and property, and helped eastern Idaho crews earn the coveted National Weather Service (NWS) StormReady designation Jan. 7.

Encore (01-15-16): Inkom Port’s assistance with quad axle earns nod from Pacific Steel
Assistance from three ITD employees with the Inkom Port of Entry with inspection of a new 53-foot quad axle flatbed trailer in early December prompted Pacific Steel to send a letter of appreciation to the department a week later.
