Maupin wins back-to-back state roadeo titles, joins exclusive club
District 6’s Trent Maupin, of the Sugar City maintenance shed, won the 2016 state roadeo title June 14 in Idaho Falls, joining an exclusive list of former winners to have earned back-to-back state titles. Only three other drivers have won consecutive titles in the event’s 23-year history.

Short, sweet and scenic: New bike route aligns with Explore Sandpoint!
U.S. Bicycle Route 10 has been realigned through Sandpoint following approval from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) earlier this month.

District 1 tailgate extender/stabilizer solves common problem
Because tailgates swing out from the underside of trucks, ITD's maintenance forces were consistently hampered by branches and similar materials getting lodged underneath. And because the dump bed only has an opening the size of the tailgate, that created a bottleneck, or worse, an impasse.

BLM sharing wildfire information at ITD rest areas in south-central Idaho
A healthy dose of winter moisture and spring showers often lead to wonderful green grasses and a healthy landscape throughout the deserts and mountains of southern Idaho. It can also lead to a wealth of fuel for summer fire season.

Encore (06-10-16): Buhl fifth-graders make toothpick bridges
Every May, ITD’s south-central Idaho office makes a point to break the bridges that Buhl Elementary School fifth-graders have painstakingly created. Rather than being seen as cruel or vindictive, the exercise is viewed with anticipation and wide grins.

Encore (6-10-16): Emerging leaders Barrus, Bathrick, Hubbard participate in WASHTO program
Three of ITD’s rising stars are participating in the Emerging Leaders program through the Western Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (WASHTO). Ultimately, participants are expected to apply these newly gained skills and knowledge to their agencies.
