D4's Price designs post-puller to save time, money for maintenance workers
Anyone who has worked on a farm or around livestock has pulled posts – typically a two-person operation involving a chain and a hoist of some kind, but usually a loader bucket. The activity can be unsafe for the person holding the chain, in multiple ways, and often bends or breaks the posts.

Longer summertime hours and unrestricted travel starting Monday highlight Idaho 14 landslide clean up near Elk City
Taking advantage of earlier sunlight hours to expedite clean-up efforts in the aftermath of a massive landslide west of Elk City on Idaho 14, the Idaho Transportation Department on Monday (July 11) will move up work hours to start at 5 a.m. on the project. The slide clean up is on pace for completion in late August.

After a decade of investment in Idaho’s roads and bridges, the state’s Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) program has wrapped up — and it has transformed the state’s infrastructure in a way we haven’t seen since the interstate system was built through Idaho in the 1960s.

Safety
State's first median cable barrier to improve safety on I-84 in south-central Idaho
Work will begin Monday (July 11) to install a cable barrier on a two-mile stretch of Interstate 84 over Sweetzer Summit in southeast Cassia County. The cable barrier will be located in the median and is designed to prevent traffic from crossing into the opposite lanes of traffic in the winding mountain pass.

Encore (07-01-16): Department unveils new Innovate ITD! site for employees
Innovation is woven into the fiber of ITD employees. Starting in 2014, the department began communicating and sharing the results of this innovative spirit through the Innovate ITD! SharePoint site. Since then, hundreds of great ideas and innovations have been shared across the department. More than $1.5 million and thousands of hours have been saved so far.

Encore (07-01-16): New career path program for ITD maintenance foremen launches July 1
Building on the success of its yearlong Transportation Technician Operations program, the Idaho Transportation Department adds a new career track for its Transportation Operations Team Leaders (TOTL) beginning July 1. The TOTL program will affect approximately 47 foremen statewide.
