I.B. Perrine Bridge: Forty years and still standing strong
It was a momentous day in Twin Falls when the I.B. Perrine Bridge officially opened to traffic on July 31, 1976. A Ford Model T roadster pickup — the first vehicle to cross over the original Snake River Bridge in 1927 and previously owned by I.B. Perrine's sister-in-law — led a parade of vehicles to officially open the new river crossing. Now, 32,000 vehicles use the bridge each day.

Harelson nominated for Idaho State Business Journal Professional of the Year for work with Pocatello's Greenway Foundation
The legacy of Dan Harelson, an engineer manager who leads the District 5 Engineering Group A in ITD’s Pocatello office, lies in Pocatello’s pavement. Throughout 25 years as a Pocatello resident, Dan has improved the safety of area roads and has made numerous contributions to the Portneuf Greenway Foundation. For that, and more, Harelson was recently nominated for the Idaho State Business Journal’s Professional of the Year awards July 27.

Transportation Alternatives Program
Walk/bike-focused Transportation Alternatives Program recommends 30 exceptional projects
Behind the efforts of six talented district coordinators, the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) in July forwarded 30 projects to the Idaho Transportation Board for approval. The projects span from educational programs to improve children's safety while walking and bicycling, to constructing a variety of pedestrian pathways and infrastructure, from FY17-19.

Blower adapter redirects airflow, reduces conflicts
Timothy Moon has only been a maintenance worker in District 1’s Coeur d’Alene (U.S. 95 South/I-90 West) shop for less than a month, but he is already showing the kind of creativity and drive that is the hallmark of the Innovate ITD program. His blower adapter puts a new spin on a routine, but frequently hazardous endeavor.

Encore (07-22-16): ITD begins new program to standardize mobile phone use department-wide
A new program designed to standardize smart-phone use throughout the Idaho Transportation Department begins the first week in August. The program, called Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), enables authorized ITD employees to use their own phones instead of devices issued by the department.

Encore (07-22-16): Brown and Palmer combine on chute redesign to save district up to $48,000
There are a handful of tasks every ITD maintenance shop gets intimately familiar with each year -- sealing roadway cracks is on that short list. Dave Palmer and Gerry Brown in District 1 have made the task easier and more efficient.
