Threads of Life quilt visits ITD’s Headquarters July 28
The Threads of Life quilt — dedicated to the memory of those who gave the gift of life, sight and mobility — made a stop at ITD Headquarters July 28. The quilt will remain on display at the agency through the end of August before traveling to other parts of Boise and maybe the state.

Alive at 25 defensive-driving class earns National Safety Council award
The National Safety Council earlier this summer named the Alive at 25 program as winner of its Astonishing Achievement Award for outstanding training efforts and hard work to make Idaho’s highways safer. The award recognized the Idaho Transportation Department’s training efforts in the defensive-driving class.

ITD helps dancers adopt park in memory of teammate
Linder Park, a small, cozy enclave nestled at the corner of State Street (Idaho 44) and Park Lane, sits near Eagle High School. The shade is plentiful, from several trees, and the Middleton Canal flows along the back border. It's a bit rundown, but it has potential. Potential that's about to be tapped, through the efforts of a group of high schoolers paying tribute to the memory of a teammate killed in a car accident this summer, Jessica Ann Aschenbrenner, and the help of the Idaho Transportation Department.

Encore (07-29-16) Harelson nominated as Professional of the Year for work with Pocatello's Greenway Foundation
The legacy of Dan Harelson, an engineer manager who leads the District 5 Engineering Group A in ITD’s Pocatello office, lies in Pocatello’s pavement. Throughout 25 years as a Pocatello resident, Dan has improved the safety of area roads and has made numerous contributions to the Portneuf Greenway Foundation. For that, and more, Harelson was recently nominated for the Idaho State Business Journal’s Professional of the Year awards July 27.

Encore (07-29-16) Perrine Brisdge - 40 years old and standing strong
It was a momentous day in Twin Falls when the I.B. Perrine Bridge officially opened to traffic on July 31, 1976. A Ford Model T roadster pickup — the first vehicle to cross over the original Snake River Bridge in 1927 and previously owned by I.B. Perrine's sister-in-law — led a parade of vehicles to officially open the new river crossing. Now, 32,000 vehicles use the bridge each day.
