Department launches "Prepare – Be Aware" Winter Safety Campaign
The Idaho Transportation Department launched the second annual Winter Safety Campaign Dec. 7 with a short video encouraging drivers to be careful around snowplows. The Prepare – Be Aware campaign encourages drivers to use tools and information provided by the department to stay safe during the winter months

Innovation pocket cards help ease submissions
Innovations – finding savings and efficiencies in everyday work, improving existing processes, saving time, bettering customer service – will propel ITD forward. Something was holding that effort back, however. Time after time, employees reported that the process of innovating was intimidating, complicated.

Freight, signs, transit highlight December transportation board meeting
The Idaho Transportation Board will discuss the statewide freight plan, outdoor signs, public transit planning and funding at the Dec. 14 board meeting at the headquarters auditorium in Boise.

Transportation Research Grants
Recipients of University Transportation Center Grants: Boise State, University of Idaho
Since 1987, the University Transportation Centers program has funded critical academic research on issues vital to the long-term safety and vitality of the nation’s transportation system, while opening doors for men and women who want to use their careers to do something about it. That’s why today, I am pleased to announce the recipients of over $300 million in five-year grants to 32 UTCs.

A To-Do List for the Incoming U.S. Transportation Secretary
Speculation is already swirling around the newly-named U.S. Transportation Secretary to be, Elaine Choa. Choa previously served as Deputy Secretary of Transportation under George H.W. Bush and is thought to prefer a light regulatory touch.
