ITD experiments with solar-powered pavement markings in Pocatello
An unusual amount of sunshine this winter, especially compared to last year's insane winter, has allowed ITD to experiment with a few alternatives. The most recent are solar-powered pavement markings along short stretches of US-30/Garret Way in Pocatello.

Caution: Safety culture shift in progress
A few weeks ago, District Engineer Dave Kuisti in District 2 received a note from a TTO. His concern was the lack of taillight visibility on the new Crew Cab pickups that have “Tommy Lifts” installed.

ITD’s Office of Highway Safety has been asked to share the “Shift” at the upcoming WASHTO meeting in South Dakota in June.

Idaho Transportation Board
Branding, child ped. safety, 129,000-lb. truck routes will be discussed at February Idaho Transportation Board meeting
Equipment branding, seven 129,000-lb truck routes in eastern Idaho, and $2 million in child pedestrian safety projects will be discussed at the upcoming February 21Board Meeting at the ITD Headquarters in Boise.

Getting the word out to more Idahoans, Boise airport website now features link to Star Card
Idaho's Star Card will impact almost every driver's license holder in the state - nearly 1.2 million of them - so Gem State organizations have already started collaborating on getting the word out. Along those lines, the Boise airport website is now featuring a link to the Star Card.
