From Genesee to D.C.: Clawson begins AASHTO Fellowship in spring
District 2 Materials Engineer Chad Clawson, who has been with ITD for 18 years, was informed Feb. 16 that he earned a 2018 AASHTO Transportation Management Fellowship. He will leave tiny Genesee (pop. 955) and report to Washington, D.C. in April for the yearlong commitment.

ITD expertise supports fish monitoring on the Lochsa
Earlier in February, ITD equipment cleared out the narrow access road to Fish Creek, a tributary of the Lochsa River and a longtime monitoring site for steelhead, a native rainbow trout listed as threatened in 1997.

D1 finds strong girding in Nebraska
D1 engineers got a rare peek behind the curtain last week when managers from Capital Steel invited them to Lincoln, Nebraska, to view the fabrication process for steel girders.

ITD adds visual element to public engagement with Facebook Live events
When most people think of Facebook, “friend requests” and “likes” come to mind. But ITD staff are starting to use the platform to share information in a new visual way, and interact with people hundreds of miles away.

I-84 weekend crossover work in Canyon County awarded national paving honor
Asphalt paving work on Interstate 84 between Franklin Boulevard in Nampa and Franklin Road in Caldwell won a Quality in Construction Award from NAPA (National Asphalt Pavement Association) for the Idaho Transportation Department and commuters.
