A tale of two trucks and big taxpayer savings
Mechanics in the District 1 shop will be swapping motors and saving taxpayer dollars while they are at it. A routine equipment inventory showed the need to replace a 32-year-old boom truck. The district's shop personnel found a different solution.

Oien spearheads DMV mentorship program
With at least a quarter of ITD staff having come into the organization in just the last two years, there is a clear need to enhance the training and support for newer employees beyond their initial training and six-month probationary period. A mentorship program was rolled out in DMV in February to do just that.

ITD employee reflects on eruption of Mount St. Helens
Thirty-eight years ago today (May 18, 1980), Mount St. Helens erupted in Washington, spewing smoke and ash that traveled more than 300 miles before landing in the Lewiston area. It is often referred to as the most disastrous volcanic eruption in U.S. history.

Twin Bridges over Snake River built to handle triple the traffic
A pair of bridges in south-central Idaho spanning the vast Snake River finished last fall, connecting Cassia and Minidoka counties along Interstate 84. These Twin Bridges are a critical link to interstate travel through the area, with nearly 18,000 vehicles passing over the crossings each day. This volume is expected to nearly triple.

DMV - Safety
Metzger creates safety reminder for DMV’s Customer Contact Center
DMV’s Melanie Metzger recently created a “See It. Say It. Fix It.” safety message on chalk to adorn the wall of the Customer Contact Center. With the department heavily focused on employee safety in 2018, the message has never been more timely.
