North Idaho crew shares improved sign catwalk at Foremen’s Conference
Faced with a laundry list of signs to replace this season, a D1 crew invented a tool in January to replace signs, and its immediate success prompted the crew to demonstrate its utility at the Foremen’s Conference in Lewiston yesterday.

Master Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad is a huge timesaver
It can take up to two years for an agreement with Union Pacific Railroad to install safety improvement features like flashing lights or gates at a public crossing. Waiting for a safety upgrade can be extremely frustrating, so ITD began investigating alternatives.

There are interpreters available for DMV customers and others who have limited English skills or who only speak a foreign language. Across the department, there are employees who speak Bengal; Chinese; French; Japanese; Polish; Portuguese; Spanish; Russian; Swahli and Vietnamese.

The Transporter is one of the most efficient means of distributing news to employees, so with readership dwindling to fewer than 600 unique page views per week about a year ago, I began instituting changes to reverse that trend.
