Historic milestone celebrated as Terry Jacobsen Day in Idaho
ITD was built by incredible employees who have chosen to spend a lifetime working to serve the people of Idaho. On Tuesday, July 24, all of ITD celebrated an amazing feat – 60 years of service. The Governor's Office recognized the monumental achievement, too.

Assailant Training: What would you do?
More than 30 ITD employees participated in the July 18 Active Shooter/Assailant training exercise at Borah High School in Boise. The event was meant to simulate a real-world scenario with a disgruntled assailant, and test response capabilities.

ITD helping small, rural communities thrive
Idaho Highway 48 rolls through the Main Street of Roberts before meeting with Interstate 15, so the small town sees a fair amount of traffic on a daily basis. The city saw a need to begin rebuilding, and came to ITD with plans to revamp their main pedestrian ramps.

Operational safety enhanced for ITD workers
About 14 months ago, I encountered three Transportation Techs parked on the right shoulder of I-84 at around 10 a.m. in Boise, attempting to patch potholes in the left lane. Traffic was flowing fast and too heavy - I was scared.

They often do their jobs alone in remote areas, where cell phone service is spotty, safe access to work sites is a challenge, and passing vehicles come dangerously close.

Transporter Treasure: Lewis & Clark take up permanent residency in Lewiston
Those horses running wild on the highway median east of Lewiston... Relax. They really pose no threat to traffic. They are two-dimensional, but so lifelike they're mistaken for live animals.

Saved by the Belt draws sellout crowd
It was a full house at Memorial Stadium July 21 as ITD’s Office of Highway Safety and the Boise Hawks partnered to encourage sports fans to buckle up during Saved by the Belt Night. The Hawks are the first team in baseball to wear the special edition uniforms.

Safe-driving legislation, long-range transportation plan top July meeting
The Idaho Transportation Board advanced distracted-driving legislation for consideration and reviewed items in the Long-Range Transportation Plan during the July 18-19 meeting in Boise at the District 3 offices.
