Kimbol's ride through ITD marked by vapor trail
“No one rides alone” has been a rallying cry for ITD as Kimbol Allen has dealt with health issues over the past year and retires from the department in October. His meteoric rise has been accompanied by respect from peers and colleagues.

Fish & Game helps ITD preserve Lochsa swimmers
Plenty of folks fish along the Lochsa River that flows beside US-12 in north-central Idaho, but not many get to electrofish, a technique used by agencies such as Idaho Fish and Game to safely survey fish.

Multi-year contracts to purchase snowplows and components could save $620k
By reducing the time required to purchase and deliver new snowplow trucks to the districts, ITD can provide a higher level of service for highway end users in the winter. Reducing operating costs about $40,000 per year and adding $620,000 in savings on chassis is just icing on the cake.

Rattlesnake Creek Fire near Riggins sparks partnership
A fire along US-95 near Riggins in recent weeks has sparked a partnership between ITD and a Northern Rockies incident management team to enhance safety for travelers in the area. The fire began near milepost 184 July 23 and spread quickly through the corridor.

Good fortune follows Freeman — and his wife, too
Good fortune is Robin Freeman's companion most days. He's won the district roadeo 11 times in his 26-year ITD career, including four state titles. He won the cash drawing at his local mid-summer music festival three times in a row. And now good fortune has included his wife in its covering, too.

D3 uses surface-mounted tubular markers for quicker, safer traffic control
It's the best of both worlds -- reducing construction time and delays, while improving safety for our workers. With the much-needed I-84 pavement rehab project quickly approaching, crews needed to find a way to rapidly install weekend crossover traffic-control measures.
