Revamped department Fatigue Management Policy applies to all ITD workers
The ITD Fatigue Management Policy was recently revamped to more closely reflect how we as a department operate. Several substantive changes resulted from discussions at all levels of the ITD workforce to identify and manage risk due to fatigue.

Lakey named new D3 (Southwest Idaho) District Engineer
Caleb Lakey is the new D3 District Engineer, replacing Amy Revis, who is retiring after more than six years at the helm for D3 and 37 years spent in transportation, including three decades at Washington State DOT. Lakey’s official start date will be February 9.

First time for everything
It’s not every day you get three districts together to work collectively and collaborate. Jan. 9 was a rarity. More than 35 employees came together on that day in Pocatello to brainstorm and plan operations for issues common to their respective regions.

999 Miles
Several years ago, I set a goal of 1,000 miles of walking. I use a cane, and hadn’t done even one mile in decades, so it was definitely a challenge. The first 300 miles were done without a cane or assistance of any kind. But this column is not about me — it’s about the value of setting a goal, even a lofty one, and adhering to a game plan to attain it.
