Williams joins ITD Communication office serving south-central region

Jessica Williams, longtime Idahoan and recent Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employee, has been serving the ITD District 4 area since February 1. At the BLM, she worked as a technical writer/jack of all trades.

Jessica came to ITD with more than a decade of experience in communication-project management, promotions and marketing. She initially worked in the music industry, at a talent agency in New York City, and a boutique law firm in the Big Apple, before returning to her native area of the Magic Valley a few years ago.

“Now is a really interesting time to be joining ITD and I am very excited to be working out of Shoshone,” Williams said. “There are always a lot of great projects underway throughout the state, and we certainly have our fair share of them here. District 4 is more than just specific projects though – it is a district with over 2,000 lane miles, vast geographic diversity, and amazing ITD employees throughout.”

Williams steps into the role served by Nathan Jerke in District 4 from 2007-2017 until accepting a promotion to Project Manager last fall.

“Although I am certain this role will hold many future challenges, the biggest one I am currently facing is that of familiarity,” Williams said. “I do not come from a transportation background and my predecessor, Nathan, left some big shoes for me to fill. There is a great deal for me to learn in order to give this position the respect it deserves, but thankfully I am surrounded by a group of professionals who share a common goal and are banking on my success as much as their own.

“I not only get to support my district, but I also get to join forces with the headquarters office and work on statewide initiatives,” she added.
