District 4 revels in chili delight

The halls of Shoshone were filled with goodness and spice earlier this month, as District 4 celebrated their annual chili potluck. Offerings were brought in from folks located throughout the district, and about 30 individuals treated their taste buds to all sorts of delights — all the while hoping they would be lucky enough to take home a winning pumpkin prize.

Treats included four pots of chili, two large salads, pies, cookies, cornbread, and toppings. District 4 Operations Manager Scot Malone described recipe #2 as hearty and anything-but-bland, while I myself felt that chili #4 was likely the most grand.

Some chili was sweet and some packed a powerful punch, but each dish offered an opportunity to sit for a spell and visit with colleagues and friends on a windy autumn day. No "official" chili winner was named, but the satisfied smiles of taste testers said they were all winners.
