D6 member Lee Gagner steps away
after a decade on Idaho Transportation Board
Lee Gagner, of Idaho Falls, who has diligently represented the District 6 (east Idaho) region as a member of the Idaho Transportation Board, will retire at the end of the year after a decade of service.
Gagner, appointed by Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter in Feb. 2008, was reappointed to his position in 2014 after fulfilling an initial six-year term.
Gagner, 77, is a North Dakota native and lifelong entrepreneur who served four terms in the Idaho House of Representatives, from 1997 through 2004, representing District 33. He has two grown children.
As a dedicated public servant in his role on the Idaho Transportation Board representing east Idaho, Gagner presided over several seminal events in the area during his tenure, including:
- Rebuilding US-20 and removing several at-grade intersections, replacing them with much safer interchanges;
-
Completing Pancheri Overpass in Idaho Falls in just one construction season;
-
Initiating the PEL (Planning and Environmental Linkage) study for the
I-15/US-20 connector
-
D6’s innovative 3D modeling
-
D6’s innovative contracting, which resulted in the 6-5-4 project and $4.7M in taxpayer savings
During his time as D6 representative, Lee worked with several district engineers — Blake Rindlisbacher, Kimbol Allen, and Jason Minzghor.
“Lee has great relationships with the legislators in the area,” said D6 Engineering Manager Karen Hiatt. “He was a great supporter of the employees, appreciating all the hard work done at the frontlines. He has been a great friend and leader to the team of District 6 and will be greatly missed.”
Please join the Idaho Transportation Board and ITD at an Open House for Gagner, in the Headquarters Auditorium, Thursday, Dec. 13 from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
