Jeff Marker takes over as ITD’s new
Public Transportation Manager Dec. 17

Jeff Marker, who has been manager of ITD’s Freight office for a little mire than three years, takes over as manager of the department’s Public Transportation office Dec. 17. He replaces Kim McGourty, who is leaving ITD for Washington, D.C.

The Freight unit completed Idaho’s first statewide freight strategic plan that incorporated freight infrastructure projects, completed 45 evaluations of potential 129,000-lb. trucking routes to help develop the freight network, and coordinated the Idaho Autonomous and Connected Vehicle Testing and Deployment Committee in preparing an initial report to the Governor.

“I am very excited about joining the Public Transportation Team,” Marker said. “They’ve done a tremendous job building the program and developing great relationships throughout the state over the last few years.

“Their credibility extends to the federal level, and my goal is to keep the team moving forward and strive to integrate emerging technologies into public transportation. I believe these technologies provide us a unique opportunity to look at transportation challenges in new and innovative ways, with public transportation at the forefront.”

The Public Transportation unit reports to Chief Deputy Scott Stokes, who is equally excited about the new era at ITD and the landscape Marker will enter.

“We find ourselves in a very interesting time period where new transportation technology and services that we provide citizens will begin to merge. We have a remarkable public transportation staff that has refined partnerships and increased confidence. Jeff’s extensive leadership and vision will be ideal for this next era as we find the path for Idaho to leverage new transportation solutions.”
