D3's Jersey Barrier mover
saves time and reduces risk
The maintenance crew in Caldwell has a perennial job of realigning jersey barriers that are hit by cars. It takes them days to cover the miles of barriers within the urban Interstate 84 corridor. The crew machined a hydraulic attachment for a plow truck that is much safer and faster than the old method.
The Caldwell maintenance shed estimates an annual savings of more than 1,000 hours, and an equipment cost savings of $21,000. The savings are applicable only for the Caldwell maintenance area. Other areas may see more or less savings, based on the amount of time devoted to realigning median barriers.
