Description

SUBSECTION 709.06 LITHIUM NITRATE ADMIXTURES (Type S) of the ITD Standard Specifications. Meet ASTM C494. This admixture is a Specific Performance Admixture, designed to mitigate Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) in concrete. It's typically a 30% aqueous solution of Lithium Nitrate and is added to the concrete during the batching process. This admixture helps prevent or minimize expansion and cracking caused by Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR,) particularly when using reactive aggregates.

Special Notes

Dosages will vary depending on the sodium equivalent of the cement and when used in combination with pozzolans such as Class F fly ash. Products shall be evaluated thru (NTPEP), now known as Product Evaluation and Audit Solutions, or another approved laboratory.
