McCall fire truck helps christen
new bridge, east-west route

More than 60 people joined Idaho Transportation Board Chairman Chuck Winder and ITD Director Dave Ekern for a ceremony to dedicate two recently completed projects in McCall.

The event was held on the new bridge over the North Fork of the Payette River that is the centerpiece of the East-West Loop, a second connection for the two sides of McCall.
Also celebrated was the completion of the Four Corners Beautification, a transportation enhancement project that landscaped the south entrance to the city on Idaho 55.

McCall Mayor Kirk Eimers, Fire Chief Dave Sparks and District 8 State Rep. Ken Roberts joined Winder and Ekern as speakers at the event. District 3 Engineer Eric Shannon and Region 4 Project Engineer Bruce Macewan were among the dignitaries on stage.

The East-West Loop serves as a connection for local traffic and provides a crucial route for emergency service vehicles to reach the west side of the community. In fact, the McCall Fire Department used the bridge for the first time to answer a call several days before the dedication ceremony. The city located its new fire station on Deinhard Lane near the project in anticipation of the route.

The event was concluded with McCall Fire Truck No. 11 leading a procession of emergency response vehicles across the bridge. McCall city employees then served ice cream to attendees.
