A District 6 crew experienced turbulence recently near Salmon. ITD’s dive team conducted a cross-section survey of the Salmon River as part of a hydrology study for building a pedestrian bridge across the river. Their in-water survey determined the amount of water in the river so a bridge can be designed to handle the flow. Divers Randy Drake, Rich Asbury and Joe Kopplow did the in-stream work while James Heiser, Mike Taylor and Gary Johnson conducted the survey of the river bottom. They completed 15 cross-sections, 250 feet apart – seven upstream and eight downstream from the proposed bridge site. The bridge is scheduled for construction in 2010. Published 10-13-06 |
