From Terri Schorzman,

Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) announced this week that it had received a number of prestigious awards for its regional transportation effort, “Communities in Motion: Regional Long-Range Transportation Plan 2030.

The awards are:

  1. The International Summit Creative Awards committee, comprised of 16 judges from seven countries, awarded COMPASS a Bronze in the category of Public Service/Advocacy Multiple-Media Campaign. This includes CIM Web site, newsletter series, postcards, and the Communities in Motion booklet with CD-Rom. There were thousands of entries. Green House Creative (Boise) designed the materials.
  2. The Idaho Advertising Federation awarded COMPASS a "Rockie" in the Collateral and Public Service categories for the “Communities in Conversation” postcard announcing the event last spring (2006). Green House Creative and RBCI worked with COMPASS on the project.
  3. The Idaho Transportation Department presented COMPASS with the 2007 Excellence in Transportation Award (Transportation Planning - Large Project). ITD awarded the prize in Boise at its 2007 Project Development Conference, April 4-5. During presentation, ITD noted that " Communities in Motion is the most significant and robust approach to planning regionally for transportation to date in Idaho. The quality of work, coordination and communication, and the final plan serves as an example for regional planning throughout Idaho and the nation."
  4. American Council of Engineering Companies of Idaho awarded COMPASS and Kittelson Associates a first place and a grand award for "innovative techniques and high future value of the project" (Communities in Motion).
  5. Idaho Smart Growth presented a Certificate of Appreciation in the Public Policy and Planning Award Category.
In addition, the Idaho Press Club notified COMPASS that it will receive awards on Saturday (May 5) in several categories: feature writing, newsletter, special purpose publication, and Web sites (both for general excellence and special purpose). COMPASS also submitted nominations to the National Association of Regional Councils for an Achievement Award. Results will be released in mid-May.
