District One Training Specialist Lori Stensland has always enjoyed expanding her world through a lifelong joy of learning. New ideas and new skills were like buried treasure, just waiting to be discovered. It’s no surprise this passion for learning remains a driving force in her life. Lori is active in Idaho Lifelong Learning Association (ILLA), serving this year as its president. The ILLA is a statewide lifetime education organization dedicated to serving the needs of professionals. Its mission and goals include:
Lori’s career with ITD reflects her willingness to try new things, stretching her abilities and embracing the opportunity to simply learn more. Starting in the Sandpoint Residency as an hourly employee, Lori became a certified employee in 1998. When the opportunity arose, she was promoted in 2001 to under-fill the new training specialist position in the district. As a member of the Division of Highways training group, Lori joined the ILLA in 2002. She was elected vice-president in 2008 before becoming president this past year. As president, Lori relishes the role of advocate for education-- a role for which she is well-suited. She will continue to serve on the board of directors after her term has ended, as past president.
