changes name, realigns some functions
Several
offices and their functions have been realigned
and incorporated into a newly named Division of
Administration. The changes, which took effect
Tuesday (Jan. 18), reflect the transportation
department’s commitment to group services
that are similar into one office.

Technology
makes vehicle titles more tamper-resistant
Idahoans can be even more
confident of their used car purchases because of new,
state-of-the art security measures on Idaho vehicle
titles. Odometer readings are listed on vehicle titles.
To stop any attempt to alter those readings on the
title, the transportation department is using a new
weapon against fraud, thermo chromic ink.

Aviation
festival scheduled March 10-12
More
than 500 aviation enthusiasts are expected to gather
in Boise for the 13th annual Idaho Aviation Festival,
sponsored by the Idaho Transportation Department
Division of Aeronautics. The festival will be March
10-12 at the Boise Centre on the Grove in downtown
Boise.

Former
ITD public information officer passes away
Bill Harvey, who retired
after a distinguished career in the Idaho Transportation
Department’s Public Information Officer, passed
away Jan. 5 at the Veterans Administration Hospital
in Boise. He was 81. Harvey graduated from the University
of Washington with graduate studies at the University
of Oregon and Washington State University’s
Edward R. Murrow School of Broadcast Journalism.
