completes most of strategic initiatives
A strategic initiative that examined the way ITD
operates and introduced a systematic approach to
delivering services has been substantially completed.
Launched in early 2005, the plan focused on five
primary approaches: Improving project and program
delivery, improving safety, enhancing system operations,

Retirement
entices Moreno away from FHWA
Representatives
from ITD were among the roasters who gathered
to bid a light-hearted farewell to Steve Moreno
on Jan. 27 at Eagle Hills Golf Club. Moreno
formally retires today as administrator of
the Idaho division of the Federal Highway
Administration.

DMV
plan to be explained to sheriffs, assessors
Representatives
from sheriff’s offices and county assessor
offices throughout Idaho will receive brief introductions
to the transportation department’s DMV Modernization
project next week. Shannon Barnes, manager of the
modernization project, will speak to both groups
when they meet in Boise Monday.

Technology
to be displayed at Capitol
The
transportation department will share its use of
technology with legislators and guests at the Idaho
Capitol as part of Digital Government Day on Feb.
14. ITD’s display will include a demonstration
of the new Automated Driver’s License Testing
system, on-line ordering of specialized license
plates and a continuous PowerPoint presentation
on how the department uses technology to better
serve Idaho citizens.

Final
draft of STIP available
ITD’s guide to construction projects through
2011, the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program
(STIP), is now available. The STIP identifies approximately
$1 billion in transportation-related projects planned
for construction through the year 2011, plus those
planned for the first two years of the Connecting
Idaho program as authorized by the Idaho Legislature.

Operation
Care donations accepted through Tuesday
Employees at Headquarters have joined
a campaign to meet the basic needs of military personnel
serving in Iraq. A collection box has been set up
in the Lobby for the deposit of personal care items,
non-perishable food/snacks and entertainment such
as CDs, DVDs, games and reading material.
