Transportation department request
will help ITD 'grow' system

Transportation development and services in Idaho is a big business. More than $760 million will be managed by all levels of government in Idaho during Fiscal Year 2006. ITD will manage almost 60 percent of that revenue in one way or another.

DEQ approves corrective action for Mica creek, bay

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ) has approved a corrective action plan to address alleged environmental impacts of the reconstruction of U.S. 95 from Bellgrove to Mica Creek in 2001-02.

Explosives launcher could pre-empt avalanches on Idaho 21
The transportation department recently experimented with two methods of bringing threatening snow accumulations off the steep mountainsides before they cascade down on their own. One method involved dropping small explosive charges from a helicopter; the other process launched explosive charges from a truck-mounted cannon, called an Avilauncher.

New partnership extends public transportation in Kootenai County
Kootenai County commissioners and representatives of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Kootenai Metropolitan Planning Organization (KMPO) formally entered a partnership that will change the reach of public transportation in the county. Commissioners signed an agreement Tuesday that will provide a daily fixed-route service in the urbanized area of rapidly growing Kootenai County.

The 2004 Annual Report, performance reports, an inside look at ITD and a new enhancement program site also are new to the Web page.

New guide helps to identify Idaho noxious weeds
Spring may seem a long ways away, but now is the perfect time to get ready to do battle against noxious weeds that will sprout up when spring weather finally arrives. To do just that, weed officials urge Idahoans to get a copy of a detail- packed, 76-page Idaho Noxious Weed Guidebook offered free to the public by the campaign.
