Valley citizens refining transportation
vision
Treasure
Valley residents last week picked
up where they recently left
off – laying a foundation
for the future of transportation
in the region. More than 440
citizens from Ada, Canyon, Boise,
Gem, Payette and Elmore counties
turned out for the second round
of Communities in Motion workshops,
with the charge of designing
their ideal transportation system
of the future.

Symposium looks at future of
recreational airstrips
ITD
is partnering with recreational
air transportation providers
and users across the northwest
to develop a strategy for the
future of Idaho’s recreational
airstrips. Gathering input for
the plan is the focus of the
Feb. 18 statewide Recreational
Airstrip Symposium in Boise.

Engineering
firms honored for projects
Several
ITD partners recently received engineering
awards for their work on highway
projects. The American Council of
Engineering Companies (ACEC) of
Idaho, representing the consulting
engineers of Idaho, sponsors the
annual Idaho Engineering Excellence
Awards Competition.

NIATT
receives grant for traffic signal
studies
The National
Institute for Advanced Transportation
Technology (NIATT) at the University
of Idaho recently received $705,274
from the Federal Highway Administration
to conduct research and develop educational
materials for improved traffic signal
system operation. UI is the lead organization
in the partnership involving NIATT,
FHA, the Idaho Transportation Department,
Purdue University and the University
of Tennessee.
