Board to learn about public transportation plan
Public Transportation Administrator Larry Falkner will present details of a public transportation action plan to the Idaho Transportation Board when it assembles for a Feb. 22 workshop prior to its regular February meeting. ITD, Ada County Highway District (ACHD), Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and Valley Regional Transit collaborated on a public transportation plan.

Aviation festival scheduled March 10, 11
An expert in recreational destinations for pilots will kick-off the 14th annual Idaho Aviation Festival, Friday and Saturday, March 10, 11. The festival, presented by the Idaho Transportation Department's Division of Aeronautics, will be at the Boise Centre on the Grove in downtown Boise. John Kounis, editor of "Pilot Getaways" magazine and an avid pilot, will be featured at a luncheon on March 10.

Kuisti named ADE for District 3 Operations
The last couple of times that Dave Kuisti changed jobs at ITD, it was a matter of boxing up his personal belongings from one office and moving them down the hall to another. His new promotion involves a bit more change. Over the next month or so, Kuisti will transition from District 2 Project Development Engineer to District 3 Assistant District Engineer.

Scott Gurnsey promoted to D-3's ADE for Engineering
What Scott Gurnsey will bring with him to his new job as Assistant District 3 Engineer for Engineering may be well known to his coworkers at the ITD facility in Boise, but the familiarity of Gurnsey’s strong points make them no less valuable. Gurnsey has worked for District 3 for more than two decades, most recently as Region 4 Engineer.

Governor's order extends Motor Carrier Advisory committee
An executive order recently signed by Gov. Dirk Kempthorne extends the authority of the Motor Carrier Advisory Committee another year. The advisory group provides valuable insight and makes recommendations to ITD about laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to the operation of commercial vehicles in Idaho.

ITD showcases technology at Capitol
Each year the Information Technology Resource Management Council of Idaho (ITRMC) sponsors a Digital Government Day at the Idaho Capitol. State departments and agencies demonstrate recently implemented technology solutions for Legislators and other statehouse visitors. ITD had prominent part in this year’s Digital Government day on Feb. 8, putting several new technologies on display.

Deadline nears for enrolling in long-term care insurance plan
Aetna Life Insurance Co. is underwriting a new long-term care insurance plan for state employees and eligible family members. The enrollment period closes Feb. 28, so any one interested in participating should enroll as soon as possible.

Engineers society to meet in Pocatello
Engineers from throughout Idaho will assemble Feb. 24 for the annual dinner meeting held in conjunction with National Engineers Week. The banquet will begin at 7 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel, 1555 Pocatello Creek Road in Pocatello. A formal program, featuring Dr. Leonard J. Bond, director of the Idaho National Laboratory’s Center for Advanced Energy Studies, will follow the banquet

The Idaho Society of Professional Engineers recently completed its second annual Idaho regional competition at Boise State University and already is making upland for the 2006-2007 Future City school recruitment process.
