Campaign targets aggressive driving behavior
With
aggressive driving contributing to more than half of
all crashes in Idaho. Law enforcement agencies throughout
the state will conduct aggressive driving campaigns
June 10-23 and July 15-28 in a concerted attempt to
reduce aggressive behavior. The campaigns will target
drivers who speed, drive too fast for conditions, follow
too close, fail to yield right-of-way, pass stop signs
and disregard signals

The
Women’s Transportation Seminar Treasure Valley
Chapter will serve as host of a reception for ITD Director
Pam Lowe and Peter Hartman, the new administrator for
the Federal Highway Administration Idaho Division. Lowe
became director on Jan. 16, a month after being named
to the position by the Idaho Transportation Board.

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation
Officials (AASHTO) and seven co-sponsoring organizations
convened a “Transportation Vision and Strategy
Summit” last month to develop consensus on
a national strategy for the future of America’s
transportation system.

Lady formally kicks off Safe Routes to Schools
As the school year winds down and children focus on summer
vacation, school and transportation officials unveiled
plans Friday to ensure the return to classes next fall
will be safer throughout Idaho. First Lady Lori Otter
joined elected officials, representatives of ITD, the
Federal Highway Administration, Ada County Highway District,
the Boise School District and a statewide coalition at
an afternoon ceremony Friday.

Deadline
extended for ACE academy
Teenagers who would like a better view of their world
are encouraged to enroll in the annual Aviation Career
Exploration (ACE) Academy organized by the Idaho Transportation
Departments Division of Aeronautics. The deadline for
applying to the academy has been extended until 5 p.m.
Monday (June 11). The cost is $100 per
student, however several scholarships still are available.
Notifications of acceptance will be sent by June 13.
