Seat Belt Coalition launches statewide campaign
ITD Deputy Director Charles Rountree, along with Idaho law enforcement agencies and representatives of the newly formed Idaho Seat Belt Coalition, spoke at a news conference on the steps of the state capitol about a partnership to develop a comprehensive highway safety plan for Idaho entitled “Toward Zero Deaths.”

Workshop to help transit providers incorporate technology
A workshop that will help Idaho’s rural public transportation providers learn about available technology and accessing federal funds to incorporate that technology is planned next week in Boise. Most of the state’s small urban and rural public transportation providers are expected to participate in the Advanced Public Transportation Systems Technology Workshop Tuesday and Wednesday.

ITD embarks on major CADD technology upgrade
A major upgrade of the department’s computer aided design and drafting (CADD) system is one of the first technology programs to emerge from the new Technology Investment Plan (TIP). Although the upgrade was included as a Legislative decision unit in 2003, it formally became part of the new process of acquiring technology solutions last year.

They extend that corporate ideal to the environment and want to ensure that first impressions of motorists entering Idaho are positive and lasting. That’s why they have been cleaning Idaho’s first mile of Interstate 90 at the Washington border the past decade.

Scenic overlook to be dedicated to honor Churches
The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) is in the process of redesigning the Galena Overlook, located just north of Galena Summit on Idaho 75, with plans to completely reconstruct the scenic overlook. The project is a partnership involving the Idaho Transportation Department, Sawtooth Society and the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.

Summer sun can turn cars into ovens

Temperatures are climbing faster than gas prices throughout most of Idaho, bringing an extreme threat to children and pets left – even briefly – inside parked or idling cars. For all of their safety features designed to protect occupants, cars can become death traps for confined children and animals.
