Partnership chosen to manage Connecting Idaho
Connecting Idaho Partners, a joint venture of Washington Group and CH2M HILL, led by WGI, will manage the Idaho Transportation Department's $1.2 billion, six-year "Connecting Idaho-GARVEE" highway improvement program.

Electronic timesheet entry to begin on limited basis next week
The use of electronic timesheets will be phased in over the next five months, beginning with the next pay period. The first wave of users includes ITD personnel from the Division of Administration as well as time-entry and time-verification personnel from other divisions and the districts.

Forum on Transportation Investment nears completion
Nearing the completion of its mission, the Forum on Transportation Investment met for the sixth of its eight scheduled sessions on Tuesday (Nov. 1) at the Holiday Inn in Boise. The Forum on Transportation Investment is charged with examining highway, rail and transit funding issues in Idaho.

U.S. Chamber says federal funding in jeopardy
A report issued by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce this week maintained that, based on the latest available revenue estimates, the Highway Account of the Highway Trust Fund will be depleted by 2009 unless action is taken to generate additional revenue.

Supplemental insurance enrollment continues
There is still time to enroll in a supplemental life insurance plan through NCPERS (National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems). Until Nov. 30, ITD employees can add additional coverage during the open enrollment period.

Recognizing stroke symptoms can save lives
A Neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within three hours he or she can totally reverse the effects of a stroke. The key is early recognition of an impending stroke and seeking medical attention within three hours.

Goodwill morning break planned at Headquarters
Headquarters will celebrate Employee Goodwill Day Wednesday (Nov. 9) with a mid-morning treats, compliments of DOROLCO. The employee organization will provide doughnuts, Danish pastries and bagels from Pastry Perfection in the Headquarters Auditorium from 9:30- a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Idaho economy continues to do well
Double-digit growth in construction, durable goods manufacturing and real estate activity drove Idaho’s gross state product up 8 percent in 2004. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Wednesday the value of all goods and services produced in Idaho last year totaled nearly $43.6 billion, about $220 million higher than the government’s initial estimate in June.

Web cast emphasizes safe use of Internet
The eighth annual Web cast Initiative on Oct. 20, held in conjunction with National Cyber Security Awareness month, focused on efforts to protect children who use the Internet. The event was disseminated live with more than 5,000 registered participants, representing 38 states and two countries.
