to formally introduce 511 system Tuesday
Just in time for the holidays, Idaho’s new
511 travel information service will offer motorists
an easy way to access road and weather information.
The service will make its public debut at a press
conference Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the District 3
maintenance yard sand shed in Boise.

Quick
thinking averts identity theft
Attention
to detail and quick intervention by two ITD employees
recently prevented what could have been one of Idaho’s
most serious cases of identity theft. Without the
actions of those observant employees, Idaho’s
most scenic bridge would have been would have been
relocated from its perch above the Payette River and
moved to upstate New York.

Plan
to create 'Ice Age' trail advances in Senate
Northern Idaho is recognized
nationally for its rugged terrain and intrinsic beauty,
qualities that have spawned such attractions as ski
resorts, bicycle and snowmobile trails, scenic byways
and historic/cultural sites. If successful, the National
Park Service (NPS) would take residents of the region
and visitors back into the Ice Age.

Board
approves two interchange locations
The
Idaho Transportation Board, meeting Wednesday and
Thursday in Boise, approved locations for the Menan-Lorenzo
and Thornton interchanges on U.S. 20 in eastern Idaho.
The board approved alternative ML-A for the Menan-Lorenzo
Interchange, to be located north of Rigby and south
of the Snake River. ML-A will connect to 700 North
(Menan-Lorenzo Highway) and LaBelle Road.

Employees
who have moved or made address changes
and who have not yet submitted that information
should complete a new W-4 and submit it
to District Administration Offices or
Human Resources by Dec. 23, to guarantee
system change.

a life - put ICE in your cell phone
If you become
incapacitated, information stored in the
phone’s “personal contacts”
memory under the name of ICE can assist
medical responders in reaching your emergency
contact. Emergency Medical Technicians and
Paramedics can determine who to call for
medical information and/or history or to
notify a friend of family member of your
condition ... if the cell phone owner takes
a few minutes to input the data.

Click-It
campaign continues through Dec. 5
Motorists
will have an extra incentive to buckle as
a statewide safety campaign, including stepped-up
enforcement and education, continues. The
Idaho State Police, Idaho Transportation
Department and about 30 local law enforcement
agencies are participating in the "Click
It, Don't Risk It!" seat belt campaign.
