Board
to consider plan for street near Headquarters
The
Idaho Transportation Board will consider details
of a plan jointly developed by the city of Boise
and the Ada County Highway District during its monthly
business meeting Wednesday. The plan for 30th Street
will include an comprehensive study of land use
and multimodal transportation opportunities associated
with the extension of 30th Street. The plan will
be based on an economic study, traffic analysis
and input from a public outreach process.

Martin
retires from Division of Aeronautics position
Bob Martin, who has served
as administrator of the Division of Aeronautics the
past five years, announced his retirement from the
position effective Friday, Dec. 15. Martin, a veteran
aviation administrator with nearly four decades of
experience, joined the transportation department April
16, 2001, following a long and distinguished career
with the U.S. Forest Service.

Contract
extended for driver's license vendor
A
five-year contract extension with an Oregon-based
company will enable Idaho to incorporate additional
security features on driver’s licenses, personal
I.D. cards and other state-issued cards. Since 2002,
Digimarc Corp. of Beaverton, Ore., has been Idaho’s
vendor, providing driver license software and a
card production system.

Holiday
parols target impaired drivers
Law
enforcement agencies throughout the state are getting
tough with drivers early as holiday traffic safety
emphasis patrols hit the streets last week (Friday,
Dec. 1). In addition to citations and warnings this
holiday season, law enforcement officers will distribute
a brochure explaining why Idaho is targeting drunk
or drugged drivers, aggressive driving behavior and
drivers not wearing seat belts.

Groundbreaking
launches Locust Grove project
Work
began this week on a new overpass that will connect
northern and southern segments of Locust Grove Road
that now are separated by Interstate 84 in west Boise
The $5.8 million overpass will offer an extended width
over the interstate between Eagle Road and Meridian
Road.
