to hear report from auto dealer advisory group
Grant
Petersen, a member of the Dealer Advisory Board
(DAB), will summarize for transportation board
members progress the DAB has made in addressing
issues related to automobile dealer licensing
the past year. Petersen's presentation will come
on the first of a two-day transportation board
meeting Wednesday (Dec. 14) in the Auditorium
at Headquarters.

Report
recommends boost in CEC
A
report by the Division of Human Resources last week
reinforced conclusions of a special legislative interim
committee that state workers continue to lag behind
the private sector in employee compensation. And without
significant change, according to the report, the exodus
of state employees to other public agencies or private
businesses will result in a drain of talent and experience
from state government.

expects good year for employee compensation
Idaho state workers can expect raises and no layoffs
next year; but, when financial times get tough, lawmakers
should consider cutting jobs, said Lewiston's state
senator. Another Lewiston lawmaker said the idea is
ill-considered and is making an uneasy work force
jumpy.

stride recently with the selection of Bryan Smith
as Emergency Programs Manager and Louie Albright as
Emergency Programs Coordinator. Smith has been working

Brooks honored for service on public transportation
council
After
40 years with the Idaho National Guard, Gen. James
Brooks knows something about logistics, funding and
administration of public policy. He applied that valuable
expertise to improving public transportation in Idaho
as a member of the Public Transportation Advisory
Council.

silver lining – economy is booming
Winter has come early to parts of Idaho this year.
The gray snowy days, slippery roads and no small amount
of shoveling might seem oppressive at times, but these
