ITD Headquarters: Functional, practical and timeless

Photos: With the foundation laid, the shell of the Headquarters Building began to take shape in 1960 (Photo 1); the view is from the northwest looking southeast. From the same vantage point, the walls and roof of what first was the Idaho State Police offices are shown in the foreground with the three-story main building rising in the background (Photo2). The look of ITD's Headquarters has changed little since it was completed in 1961 (Photo 3). The welcoming symbol – ITD's logo – also remains unchanged as it greets visitors in the main lobby (Photo 4). Idaho Gov. Robert Smylie was among the special guests who turned out for dedication ceremonies in 1961 (Photo 5).

All images are from ITD's photo archives, now residing in digital form at the Idaho Historical Society.
