The
Idaho Senate voted unanimously March 1 to confirm Bruce Sweeney
to a second six-year term on the Idaho Transportation Board.
His initial appointment to the transportation board was in
February 1999. Sweeneys second term will end on Jan.
31, 2010.
A resident of Lewiston, Sweeney is a businessman and private
pilot. As part of his board responsibilities, he serves as
liaison to the Division of Aeronautics.
He served in the Idaho Senate from 1982 to 1998 and in the
House of Representatives from 1970 to 1974. He has been a
strong advocate for ITD employees, as evident at his Feb.
26 Senate confirmation hearing where he strongly encouraged
Senate Transportation Committee members to increase the compensation
of state employees.
With his business, legislative, and aviation background,
he will continue to provide valuable expertise on transportation
issues.
