Open
enrollment meetings planned statewide
ITD employees will have an opportunity in May to attend meetings
that will help them make decisions about their choice of plans
offered through Blue Cross. The Office of Group Insurance
will conduct a series of open enrollment meetings throughout
the state, beginning April 19 and concluding on May 4.
Transportation department employees who have specific questions
or want to find out more about how the transition to the new
plans offered under Blue Cross will affect them and their
families are urged to attend one of the sessions.
Employees should attend the session that is most conveniently
located to their workplace, said Linda Salinas of ITD Human
Resources.
Individuals who want to make changes in their existing health
insurance plan, provided by Regence BlueShield, will need
to contact the Human Resources Office or their district's
business office for a printed application. The online form
recently was removed from the Internet because it belongs
to Regence. Employees, hired after March 4, will not be eligible
for coverage until July after the new provider begins
managing the state's plan.
This is a big change," Salinas said of the transition
to a new provider. "Management understands how important
insurance is to employees, and they are in full support of
attending the meetings, she said.
Meetings vary from 90 minutes to two hours.
Staff from the Office of Group Insurance will be available
to explain the plan design and respond to specific questions
before the open enrollment period begins (it runs from May
1 through May 28). For the Department of Administration newsletter
