A time to celebrate – and move forward

Projects that make Idaho highways safer and more efficient for motorists literally took center stage this week. Community officials in the Idaho Falls and Boise areas assembled to celebrate the beginnings and endings of major construction projects.

Much needed rain in eastern Idaho soaked the ground, creating puddles and mud, yet failed to dampen the spirits of community leaders, engineers and ITD representatives. They broke ground in the morning on June 10 for a new interchange for Hitt and St. Leon roads as they cross congested U.S. 20. A day later, sunshine and the enthusiasm of children provided a fitting conclusion to the second stage of the state's largest highway construction project – the WYE Interchange in Boise.

The Transporter will elaborate on the celebrations next week with additional photographs and stories.
