STIP plan available for public review

The draft FY 2005-2009 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is available for public review and comment through Aug. 4, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. The program identifies approximately $1 billion in transportation-related projects planned for construction through the year 2009, plus those in preliminary development.

“Transportation decisions impact all of us. This is the public’s chance to speak up and let state and local officials know if planned projects are meeting their needs,” said Mark McNeese, ITD senior planner.

The draft STIP is developed through an inclusive and ongoing transportation planning process, which involves elected officials, user groups, Indian nations and concerned citizens. It requires review by the public and is approved by the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration.

The draft STIP document, published once a year, contains maps and project lists for the six highway districts and the six metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) in Idaho. The STIP document is available online at www.itd.idaho.gov/planning/reports/category.htm or in a printed format. To request a hard copy contact Mark McNeese at:Division of Transportation Planning
