Idaho meets Ivy League

ITD’s Driver Services Manager Ed Pemble is back in school. But not just any school, mind you – he’s at Harvard.

Pemble is attending Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. His participation in the three-week program is provided through a fellowship award from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).

The national organization of motor vehicles professionals selects two individuals each year to receive the honor.

“The learning environment at the JFK School of Government goes far beyond my expectations,” Pemble says. “I am grateful to the department for allowing me to accept this rare opportunity made possible by the AAMVA community.”

More than ever, government officials are under pressure to tackle increasingly complex issues with fewer resources, under a great degree of scrutiny, all in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. The program at Harvard helps prepare government leaders by offering participants the opportunity to:

  • develop new conceptual frameworks for addressing policy issues,
  • explore the relationship between citizens and government,
  • examine the ethical and professional responsibilities of leadership, and
  • exchange ideas with experienced faculty and participants from diverse backgrounds.

Located on Harvard University’s campus in Cambridge, Mass., the school provides a stimulating environment that enables participants to maximize their learning experience.
