The Bottom Line

Adopt-A-Highway award with a personal touch
When ITD selected the Bureau of Land Management highway cleanup crew as the District 6 Adopt-A-Highway group of the year, the organization's leaders asked to defer their acceptance speech. Instead of accepting the award – a certificate and a custom clock fashioned from an Idaho license plate replica – during a board meeting, they asked if ITD could make a special presentation in Salmon. That would enable the entire group of volunteers to share the limelight.

Accommodating their request, transportation board member Jack Combo, District Engineer Tom Cole, and district staff members Brent Jennings and Jeff Call, delivered the award personally last week. After the presentation, they shared refreshments. The BLM crew is responsible for cleaning a two-mile stretch of U.S. 93 near the community landfill.

Course offered for Defensive Driving Class
Employee Safety will present a course that leads to certification (or recertification) for the Defensive Driving Course. Employees who drive State vehicles are required to take a Defensive Driving Class every three years.

This class will be Aug. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon, and will be in the District 3 conference room at the Chinden Boulevard location.

Those interested should complete an ITD-0733 Nomination for In-service Training form and send it to Human Resource Development. For more information, contact Michelle Rowland at 334-8570.
