The Bottom Line

Annual Administrative Workshop Sept. 22-23
Door prize donations needed by Sept. 15
The 16th annual Administrative Workshop, which provides ITD employees an opportunity for professional development and internal networking, will be Sept. 22-23 in Boise. A dinner and reception will be held the evening of Sept. 22 in the East Annex conference room, followed by a full-day session at the Nazareth Center in west Boise.

This year’s event, Riding the Waves of Change, focuses on adapting to the changing work environment and developing the skills to successfully manage the constantly evolving workplace.

To make the workshop even more rewarding, organizers want to provide an array of quality door prizes. ITD staff members who would like to donate a homemade or purchased item, are asked to contact one of the following in Boise: Debbie Dugger, ext. 8555; Tammie Jauregui, ext. 8036; Evey McAdams, ext. 8084; Judy Rogers, ext. 8201; or Sue Higgins, ext. 8808. Donated items are needed by Sept. 15.

A reason to celebrate
Mark your calendars. Tuesday (Sept. 7) has been designated National 401(k) Day, focusing attention on the benefits of planning ahead for retirement by participating in a pre-tax 401(k) program. "Imagine yourself basking on the beach, cruising cross-country in your recreational vehicle, or just gardening in your own back yard," suggests promotional material from ITD Human Resources. "Whatever your retirement dream is, we can help make it happen. This 401(k) Day you can make the most of your PERSI Choice Plan 401(k)."

Among the benefits provided by 401(k) plans are:

  • Pretax contributions mean you pay fewer taxes
  • Your investment is tax-deferred until you withdraw your funds
  • Convenient payroll deduction
  • Loans from your 401(k) account are possible
  • You can contribute whatever percentage of pay you want
  • There are 11 investment options from which to choose
  • You have 24-hour access to your account information
  • Rollovers from other retirement accounts are allowed
  • Your funds are immediately 100 percent vested

To start contributing, or to change your contribution amount, contact the payroll office in Human Resources or your respective business office. You also may call PERSI toll-free at 1-866-437-3774 or visit the web site at http://www.persi.state.id.us/choice.htm
